PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity trading ended today’s trading on a mixed feelings, the equity market capitalization closed at MUR 216.069 after losing MUR 23 million (US$0.6 million) relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 216.092 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) sagged by 0.01 percent or 0.20 points to close at 1,940.25 points but SEM10 index closed at 370.21 points after adding 0.02 percent or 0.08 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 14,120,9439 (a rise relative to volume of 1,261,972 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 71.019 million (a rise relative to MUR 23.693 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 13,400,000 (about 43 percent of total volume) at MUR 11.658 million and MCB Group registered 226,836 traded stocks amounted to MUR 47.597 million. New Mauritius Hotels had 185,516 at MUR 3.057 million and CIM Financial Services recorded a total volume of 136,100 shares at MUR 1.157 million. Mauritius Oil & Refinery also recorded 40,000 shares at MUR 1.080 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of 28 traded securities there were 3 price gainers and 6 price losers, hence the market sentiment ends negative. AIR Mauritius Limited emerged as the top gainer by adding 3.81 percent to end at MUR 10.90, Lottotech Limited ended at MUR 3.85 after surging by 1.32 percent and Terra Limited increased by 1.20 percent to close at MUR 29.50.
On the losers’ chart, B Mare Holding ended at MUR 27.50 after sagging by 4.35 percent. VIVO Energy Limited fell by 0.85 percent to settle at MUR 117.00 and ENL Land Limited (Preference) declined by 0.62 percent to close at MUR 40.24. New Mauritius Hotels with a price reduction of 0.54 percent to trade at MUR 18.40 and POLICY Mauritius sagged by 0.30 percent to conclude at MUR 6.64.
The DEMEX index ended at 203.81 points after gaining 0.20 points or 0.10 percent. The market capitalization added MUR 47 million to close at MUR 48.438 billion (relative to MUR 48.391 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 3.191 million exchanged in 35,357 traded securities. Swan Life Limited surged by 2.19 percent to end at MUR 981.00 but Mauritius Cosmetic closed at MUR 56.00 after losing 0.80 percent and ENL Investment was 0.10 percent lower to settle at MUR 49.20.
